With years of experience, our process has become extremely smooth. Here’s a detailed timeline of what you can expect, when Riverview Pools installs your new pool.
First Meeting: Congratulations! You’ve decided to get a pool built by Riverview Pools. First, we need to settle on design, location and start date. This meeting is when all the decisions are made and the procedure are finalized. After planning, we complete the paperwork necessary to file for the township permit applications for you. Once your permit has been approved, the work can begin. Below is an approximate day-by-day timeline.
| Day 1: Confirmation of location and options with client. This is also when we bring all the equipment over to start digging the pool. Once the final approval is given, we excavate the hole for the pool. Most pools are dug in one day. By the end of the day, the hole is dug and the walls and the X-Braces are up, ready for the first inspection. |
| Day 2: Inspector arrives and the walls and X-Braces pass inspection. Once this inspection is passed, we pour the concrete footing (collar) around the walls and make the floor (mix of concrete and vermiculate). After pouring, we are ready for the collar inspection. |
| Day 3: Inspector arrives and approves the footing (collar) around the walls. Backfill begins and the liner is installed. After installing the liner, the pool must be filled immediately to the bottom of the light. The pool is now ready for the electrician. |
| Day 4/5: The electrician arrives and bonds (grounds) the pool. At this point, he may wait for the inspector to arrive, or he might finish the electrical work on the trenches and panels. The inspector must approve the bonding before the pool can be filled to the top. |
| Startup: Upon completion of the electrical work, we start the pump, check that the equipment works properly and supply initial chemicals to the water. If the pool is built in the Fall, this step will be performed in the Spring. |
| Second Meeting: Once the pool is operational, it is necessary to meet for approximately 2-3 hours. During this meeting, we will confirm that the pool is operating properly and that the set-up is correct. Then, we discuss proper pool care, chemicals needed, pool safety, and timeline for pool deck finish. If the pool is built in the Fall, this step will be performed in the Spring. |
6-8 Weeks Later: The ground around your pool is now settled. This means that the pool deck can be installed.
The timeline for the pool deck installation is more flexible and often related to the weather. If the season is rainy, the ground may settle faster. Settling can also be related to the evenness of the ground. Level earth settles at a consistent speed while uneven ground settles at various speeds. Uneven soil often takes a longer period of time. |
Many pool owners will choose to have their pools built in the Fall, allowing the ground to settle over the Winter for maximum soil compaction, and have the pool deck done in the Spring as the weather turns.
Please keep in mind that there are some circumstances that will delay the process. These conditions include: non-solid ground, high water table, solid rock, rain or snow, or inspector delays or cancellations. We do everything we can to avoid these delays. If delays do occur, we will work to resolve them as quickly as possible.
